Hey there!

Welcome to the Student Dialogue's LJ!

The Student Dialogue Session (SDS) is one of the projects that the Councillors are taking up this year. Forming the main team, we have Carissa, Bernadette and Valerie from Sec 4/7, and Ranie from Sec. 5/2. From the Sec Threes, we currently have Charlotte from Sec. 3/3 and Christine Lim from Sec. 3/7.

Student Dialogue was created to provide a platform for the students to voice out their suggestions and for the school to make improvements based on plausible ones.

In previous years, the Student Dialogue had two sessions; one for the upper secondary and one for the lower secondary and it used to involve only two representatives from the class committee. However, this year, the student dialogue session was changed to involve each and everyone from the student population.

Thanks for all those suggestions and we'll love to see more of them. I'm sure you guys have loads of suggestions for the school, dont you? So do keep them coming in.You're very much welcomed to leave a comment on this LJ( Don't worry, it'll be anonymous but don't forget to tell us which class you're from!) and we'll try to address your concerns and suggestions during the next SDS.

See you around!

 LOVE,
THE STUDENT LEADERS.

As this is the last SDS for the semester, do expect something a little different from the previous SDSs! (We're hinting big on this one.)So be sure to be at the hall!We'll be looking forward to seeing you people!

** Please note that there won't be any SDS for the LOWER SECONDARY on the 9th of April. But fret not, there will be another SDS for you guys when the next semester starts! We'll see you then!

Hey there,

The 2nd Session for the Upper Secondary was quite a short one. But we still managed to cover quite a few "hot, burning" topics! For those of you who were not present, this is a rough idea of what we talked about:
  1. Follow- up from the previous SDS
  •  The prices and varieties of food in the canteen are being reviewed by Mr Anthony. Hopefully, the changes would take effect in Term 2.
  • More eating areas, especially near the cafe area, as the school has purchased more tables and chairs.
     2.    Asknlearn Portal
  • Some of you mentioned that we should have less online homework, but the purpose of giving you guys online homework is to prepare us for the event in which the school will have to close down in case of a nationwide emergency. Therefore, it is mandatory that we test out this system.
  • The school has also done it best to make the asknlearn portal accessible for everyone. If any of you were to face a problem of logging in, you can approach you form teacher to resolve this issue.
    3.     More Free Curriculum Mornings
  • This means lessons will have to end later on more days.
    4.     Some of you felt that CMECS and PE projects should be cancelled.
  • However, according to Miss Daisy Tan, who explained the rationale of the CMECS Projects, the projects are aimed for students to
    • Develop intellectually-physically,socially,emotionally and spiritually development;
    • Character Development formation;
    • Learn skills/values in life and apply them;
    • Live your life;
    • Lead- to develop everyone into their potential leader;
    • Leap- To find meaning and purpose in life;
    • Self manage, build healthy relationships with people and
    • Find motivation.
  • For the cancellation of PE projects, Mrs Tay explained that the project's objectives was to
    • Get into groups and brainstorm with you team members about games to teach you peers.
    • Unleash creativitiy and it was not created to be time -consuming.
Once again, thank you for your attention!

LOVE,
THE STUDENT LEADERS.

Hey all!

17 of February was the very first SDS of the year and it was held in the hall during the Upper Secondary Assembly.We'll like to thank all of you who made this event a success: the SDS Com.( WOOTS!), the panel of Speakers,our teacher in charge, Miss Lam and last but definitely not the least important, who else but you people!(A round of applause please:D).
That week's thursday, the 19th of February for those who can't really recall much, it marked the 1st SDS for the Lower Secondary. We'll like to thank all of you who were present during assembly for being such a great audience!

For those of you who you weren't present in the hall, here's what you have missed:
  1.  Canteen Issues
  • The suggestion that food prices at good news café & canteen should be lower is being reviewed by the canteen vendors and Mr Anthony.Changes in the prices will take effect at a later date.
  • There will be more stalls selling halal food (YAYERS!). Currently, Stalls 2 and 7 are awaiting their halal Certification so that they will be able to sell Halal food.  This process will take some time.
  •  Recess timeslots are limited to two only as having another one will be either too early or too late. Students who come earlier for recess can be considerate and leave earlier after eating so the caneteen will not be too congested.
  •  As we have longer recess now, a games booth has been set up by the Councillors for students to bond with their peers.

    2.  School Facilities and Environment
  • The suggestion of having air-coditioned classrooms, air-conditioned Hall and more air-conditioned study areas will be taken into consideration when our school is undergoing PRIME in a few years' time.
  •  We can have a covered walk-way to bus-stop but we will need to seek permission from the Land and Transport Authority (LTA) and the school will require more DONATIONS from you guys.
  • For the toilets to be cleaner, the school will need your help to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets.
  •  The suggestion of more murals being pianted in the school is a feasible idea.Students can come up with a few designs and approach Miss Chia about it.
  • For those who wants to paint their classroom walls, it has to be painted of a universal standard so that the walls do not have to be repainted when another class uses the classroom next year.
  •  Regarding the classrooms being warm and stuffy,it will be implemented after PRIME and there will be bigger windows built for better ventilation.
  • If you feel that your classroom is not well-furnished, your class can pool together donations to purchase cupboards etc.

 LOVE,
THE STUDENT LEADERS.
